Our tapioca boba is fairly easy to make, follow these simple steps and you'll have yourself texture-perfect boba.
Step 1: Boil water
Boil 1.5 cups of water in a pot for every 50g of tapioca balls (1/4 of the tapioca bag) or 5 cups for the whole bag of tapioca.
Step 2: Add tapioca
Add tapioca into the pot and stir immediately to separate all the tapioca.
Step 3: Cook tapioca
Turn the heat to medium low and leave pot uncovered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent boba sticking to the bottom of the pot as well as to help it cooks more evenly.
Step 4: Set tapioca
Turn off the heat to let the tapioca set in the pot fully covered for another 30 minutes. This process helps softened the boba.
Step 5: Strain tapioca
Pour tapioca into a strainer and rinse it out with water. Put tapioca into a large container.
Step 6: Add sweetener
Add your choice of sweetener while it's still hot, but we find it best to use brown sugar to complement the tapioca taste and texture.
